As I only have 1 cigarette lighter in my car, it owuld be annoying to have it taken up by a compass. Since it would likely be very low energy consumption, could this run off a small solar panel/battery and then maybe suction it to your windshield or dash?

I think he might have been better off using the same kind of approach but fastening everything to the back of the dresser using some sort of non-destructive adhesive. It seems a lot of the plugs are for things resting on the unit, so you could simply have them running up the back.

Would a cheap Android Tablet/old Cell Phone re-purposed into something like this not be a better way to go? I love tinkering with the Pi and think it’s great for some things, but it seems like there are cheaper/easier methods of building something like this.
