I'm with you. I mentioned upthread that it was the first of their albums I bought, so that's definitely a factor, but there's something about the sound of it all that just sticks with me. "Intervention" is a good example, there's a certain raw power to that song that all their other albums, even Funeral, don't quite

Neon Bible was my real intro to Arcade Fire and is still the high point for me, but Funeral is very close behind. Everything else I find kinda forgettable, though.

The Germans might as well be a dispassionate force of nature, with the way they appear in the movie.

Tony getting in the suit and leading the Air Force in a low-speed pursuit through the main approaches to LAX is a real highlight.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. In theory I should like them, but in practice I find myself going for the skip button whenever one of their songs comes up.

I'd have to go with either "Polka Your Eye Out!" or "Polka Power!"

This is the AV Club, it's what we do.

It's too bad that there are no fictional podcasts out there that they might be able to compare this idea to.

32 miles per hour, oddly enough.

I'd hate to have to work with that system.

Blessed are the cheesemakers.

Could also go with Herman Cain's Hermits.

You can also remind them that after watching France lose the French-Indochina War rather badly, the United States stepped up to the plate and lost the Vietnam War spectacularly badly.
