How come nobody talks about White on White crime?”

It’s a shame when they go out rioting and destroying their own communities...

I mean, imprisoning someone, then saying we’ll let you out if you go do this dangerous work is like saying, give me your cash or I’ll kill you. Technically you have a choice there, but I’m not sure voluntary is the most technically true descriptor.

Totally agreed. But why shouldn’t they be paid? I don’t understand the reason that simply because one is incarcerated that one doesn’t have the right to vote; to be paid, etc. Especially as we know how the prison industrial complex profits from the injustice Black and Brown people face in every step of the process.

While this is true — and a friend of mine in prison’s greatest hope (before she was released) was to fight fires so she could be outside (and feel contributive), they are risking their lives and should be paid commensurately.

Are you sure that "righting the ship" and "deciding what direction we are going in" are separate projects? I'm kind of suspicious to be told we have to put the second one off for another four years.

gotta say, it’s a good thing everyone here is already voting for biden, including me, because “go fuck yourself” really isn’t all that convincing, especially after you’re unable to find a single thing in biden’s career that would actually be praiseworthy from a progressive perspective.

you’re the only one coming across as a petulant child here

You are an extremely whiney turd.

and there is also a secondary private insurance market, to allow for employers to actually offer a competitive differential to prospective employees, without locking them into employment for basic healthcare.

It sounds like what it says, he cleared a low bar. I read it as a reference to the Trump campaign’s constant attempt to portray Biden as incompetent, but who cares?  What difference does it make?

turns out that Bernie and Warren’s M4A plan — eliminating all private insurance tends to... not be great.

I didn’t quote Biden at all, so I’m not sure what you’re complaining about. What I said is he indicated he would veto a Medicare-for-All bill if it got to his desk which is...true. That’s what happened. He was asked if he would, and he indicated he would. Yes, he said that he would veto it if it cost a lot, and if it

A vote for Trump is a vote for Trump. Voting Green is a vote for Trump. Not voting is a vote for Trump. Not voting enthusiastically enough for Biden is also a vote for Trump. How do you vote “enthusiastically”? No idea. Binaries are void of nuance. But we are failing in the enthusiasm metic, and are therefore, voting

Right, I’M pouty for saying that M4A is not only achievable in our lifetime but also worth fighting for. But YOU’RE not at all having a fit, you’re just having a very normal one as you melt down because a blogger has praised a candidate with something less than absolute, unreserved, glowing adoration.

Oh, from my experience of 2016, when you compromise and vote for Biden they’ll say he didn’t win because you didn’t vote with enough enthusiasm.

Can you name one with a similar population and demographic makeup to the US?

Counterpoint: You are definitely having a fit.

I love the belittling of millenials of the person you are responding to(disclosure: I am one). So let me get this straight:

No? I don’t see how it’s unfair to say the bar was low. That is something plenty of commenters who, like Reese, offered positive reviews of Biden’s speech, have pointed out. In fact, that’s the hook of many of the reactions—how Biden’s good speech demolished one of the main talking points of the Trump campaign, and
