Anytime someone attacks the person instead of the argument you can safely assume he has no valid argument of his own, but doesn’t like to be wrong.

It’s safer than putting your whole family on a moped, and that’s what matters for the Nano.

Your loss, because of the rest of what he says is correct.

*my* next question is what qualifies as a “museum”.

The Nano is an engineering triumph, and the Chiron is an engineering stunt.

I think at $2500 new, it’s not even pretending to.

Don’t forget what KIA stands for.

Yup. Pretty much all cars are 50-state cars nowadays. Now there were a few years when certain diesel passenger cars were not sold in CA, but I don’t think that is the case at the moment.

As the article says, 16 other states follow CARB emissions standards- so CA standards is not conflicting with other states. And nowadays almost all cars are 50 state cars anyways, so one could say CA standards have no adverse effects on any other states.

Until the battery runs out at about 25 miles, you’re getting mileage for no fuel burn in the car. That’s the point. The average mileage per gallon of gas can blow past 100MPGe relatively easily. On ecomodder.com there’s a participant in a Prius Prime who’s averaging about 168MPGe. That average takes into account the

I think you need a reminder of what the regular Prius looks like:

Because it’s a plugin, it gets HOV privileges in many jurisdictions. Since regular, non-plugin hybrids have been banned from most HOV lanes (with only one person), the Prius Prime is the next-cheapest way to get into that lane without going full electric.

To everyone hand wringing about CA forcing you to breath cleaner air and achieve energy independence: you’re right, we suck. Please do yourselves a favor and start local campaigns in your states to vote for CA to secede the Union. That’ll teach us!

It’s a direct competitor to the Eclipse!

Front plates are terrible, block cooling airflow, ruin front end aesthetics, and should go the way of the dodo bird.

I don’t think we have had a “California special” as far as emissions controls go since maybe 2001. I know Honda’s used to have California specific models but I thought industry had decided to make all of the cars meet CARB instead of having two products.

1st gear - if Pruitt really believed in small government, then he’d leave the issue alone entirely and let the automakers choose how they want to handle California. They have three options: make all cars meet the California standard, make cars that don’t meet the California standard but can with a software change or

I’m ready for a bunch of Real Americans™ to show up in the comments and make circular arguments about how reducing emissions is bad and those evil no-good Commiefornia lefty libruls can’t tell the rest of the country what to do if it wants to pollute more dammit.

Neutral: What Non-American Volkswagen Would You Buy?
