I could see it going that way, but it's different. Throughout the Cold War, the USSR & US military forces were near-equal or ebbed and flowed as far as power is concern.

I don't mean to change the subject here, but you mentioned Texas drivers, so I need to get a rant off my chest.
I've lamented the lack of color choices as well. I'd like to see more pale colors, like mint and light blues. Bring a little more excitement to the roadways.
The crazy part is how 100% correct you are.
It makes sense on the corporate level. Various companies have renamed their holding corporation but kept their consumer facing names the same. The cars would still be VWs. Brand equity doesn't come into play much at that level.
Is there an on-sale date yet?
I'd like to see the actual ad & the copy. As one who works in dealer advertising, I know how sneaky they can be. It's possible it doesn't explicitly mention that car in the copy, but they'll try to word is as close to possible as to get you to think that's what you're getting.
But did they steal the radar & control systems to go with the launchers? I think that's another part of the issue. They would need those & get the expertise from somewhere to use them. Read: Russia.
People get so hung up on nameplates. The evolutionary track most luxury cars take is certainly not helping. My 2007 Audi A4, to the lay person, might look nearly identical to a 2014 A4. In their mind, I'm a young guy in a $40,000 luxury car. In my mind, I know I'm driving a car that books out at $8,000 & regularly…
Rec for "superacious"
A bit like Seville Row tailoring for a fellow toting a Bud Light and a beer gut to a wedding, eh?
GM will still be able to advertise a higher max tow rating in 2015, though, as there is a configuration with the 6.2L V8 that can tow 12,000 lbs. Thus, GM gets to say they conform and gets to say their tow ratings went up for 2015.
My old man is an F&I Director at a Chevy dealership and he's just as amazed as you are at how fast these and the Tahoes sell in top level LTZ trims. They're routinely signing people up for $900+ monthly notes...for a Chevy SUV. The prices just sound absurd but they are absolutely selling like crazy. Can't keep them on…
There is a South at large, but there's a lot of differentiation within it. The Upper South; The Mid South; The Deep South; The Gulf Coast. Then, like you said, you've got this area of Louisiana south of I-10 that's it own entity (Baton Rougean here.) You can really take that further and split it into cajun…
Just because the guy has the money to put one at every residence he owns he's a tool? Sure.
I got Red Bull you got Red Bull err'body got Red Bull
The idiots who wrote the post on their blog seem to think it's the TV show and not the LSU dancers. Commenters tried to set them straight, but they still don't get it.
What year? Mine's 2007 and removing those torx screws won't allow the headlight to come out. The front bumper holds it in place.
Let's just lump all of the Audi/VW hate together, then. Add to this the simple task of changing out a headlight bulb on an A4, requiring the removal of the front bumper OR pulling out the power steering pump and the air intake.
Hey hey hey, my dad had a 1980 Corvette and it wasn't bad at all!
