That isn't the problem. You can make movies about the KKK, and people do. But there's a big difference between Birth of a Nation and say, Mississippi Burning.

I stand corrected. Anyhow I was just hoping they might bring her in somehow and I hope they do.
The tribal stuff wasn't the problem all by itself. It was the "look how superstitious these primitive people are they think she's a rain goddess."
glad to hear that.
upvoted for mentioning the remake of Amanda Waller. That was a terrible move.
I have the edition with the last chapter and I have to say I have mixed feelings about it. But yeah, weird…
It's as cringeworthy as it sounds.
Re Storm: while I liked that she is a black woman in a leadership position, there were always some things about the character that were deeply off and I always felt it was due to Len Wein's and Chris Claremont's lack of some basic research.
I remember Misty Knight and rather liked it when she just had a bionic arm that wasn't super-powered in itself (this trend of "bigger, crazier" superpowers has always left me cold; I always felt that earlier writers showed a lot more restraint).
"Lois, have you read 'Man of Steel, Woman of Tissue Paper?'"
Jesus Christ I hadn't thought of that. (The Google problem). "Really, officer, I was researching Nabakov for my literature class" is not a conversation I want to be having.
That's interesting because I think the Dune could work. Dakota Fanning could have handled that I think, or a young Anna Paquin, or Kirsten Dunst (thinking here of her Interview with a Vampire role). Not saying it wouldn't be hard, though.
Isn't the former what Lyne did? (I'm not arguing the nuances were lost).
May I offer up "Tender is the Night?"
I ain't black so I don't know how it looks from that angle, but Carl's taking on of a hip-hop driven identity strikes me as pretty common, no? There's a whole discussion you could have about cultural appropriation, but that aside for a moment, in a world where Eminem exists (and before him, Vanilla Ice) it doesn't…
That's the point— computer tools can take a lot of hours too. I think the issue is that being an artist is a bit like being a carpenter or woodworker. Carpenter's tools are millennia old. You first learn the very, very old tools before you move on to high tech, such as it is. That's how you learn the "feel" of the…
It's not like there's a shortage of actors from the North Shore or Boston generally. And Lynn has an interesting vibe because there's GE (which used to employ thousands, but now employs a few hundred) and North Shore Community College, and on top of that there's a lot of small companies in the area. Lynn has beaches,…
It depends on how many moves it took to checkmate. Certainly at some beginner level games, where the checkmate is from the f7 square (this is the one on black king side that's to the right of the king as seen by white) you can sort of see what the moves were, because checkmates like that aren't going to happen that…
Upvoted for remembering Dale. I'll always miss that voice.
Speaking as an older comic book enthusiast (and a bit of a history-of-technology guy)…
