Note the first line of Kaine’s response, “No, I never have”. He gave a direct answer, yet you’re still throwing him under the bus for part of his explanation.

I’m trying to understand the reason for the shade being thrown on Tim Kaine.  Would you have felt better if the answer was, “No, I wasn’t raised that way”...?

The plural of anecdote is not data. Northern Virginia, where many, many of the shutdown employees and contractors live, is a solidly blue region and there is little support for Trump.
