My dog has been remarkably patient with my constant need for hugs. Much more patient than either of my kids.

Especially Dan Schneider — I have no idea how he has gotten away with attacking children for so long, and so publicly.

The beauty of it is that we, the public, don’t have to concern ourselves with their motivations. Their black hearts are not our problem. Of course, to them, it’s only about money. So, let’s use their motivation against them. With so many predators exposed, it means that us putting our money where our mouths are, holds

That’s okay, same here. Means we have more time to read books written by women. It wasn’t even a conscious choice on my part; I have realised only recently that all the authors I really, really, really enjoy to the point of getting addicted and purchasing all their books, are women. I’m okay with that.

I love film too. And since I’m a foreigner living in China, I actually don’t get that many options when I decide to go to a movie theater. So, it sucks that it’s come to a point where I’ll go to the theater maybe half a dozen times a year because the rest of the options feature/are directed by assholes who abuse

My optimistic take on your (correct) cynical point: they’re cutting ties with the predators bc it’s no longer profitable, but how cool is it that it’s become unprofitable to harbor and promote sexual harassers and predators???!? That’s amazing! And it shows some huge social progress. Consumers will boycott companies

Could be argued that the ends justify the means. White people didn’t desegregate because they wanted to.
That said, I get your cynicism. I don’t think we’ll ever live in a world where power isn’t abused. The problem is deeply systemic in Hollywood and our general culture. We have to stop putting people on pedestals.

Now the actors have to refuse to work with all these sexual assaulters. Some independent studio will always fund trash, but the actors now have to do their part and refuse to work with them. No more excuses of “we didn’t know” or the “courts didn’t decide.” The court of public opinion along with a fact based history

Love that so many women (and men) feel brave and empowered enough to step forward and speak out about this awful behavior. I think this is just the beginning of the tide of men that will be taken down as a result.

I agree. As a woman, I have to know that sadly, sometimes the only thing that matters is my buying power. But I’m okay with using that politically. I’m most certainly not going to see Justice League and support Ben Affleck, no matter how much I like Wonder Women, and I truly hope it tanks so Warner can start sweating

UPDATE ON BRYAN SINGER:

His lawyer’s defense against allegations of sexual harassment is that no one has ever accused him of sexual harassment ?

At the very least, I want to see Schneider, Singer, and Travolta (who already has credible victims on the record) face some consequences before this burns out. In a perfect world, Trump would join that list.

This trend of outing sex criminals is amazing. It could reshape Hollywood. I can’t believe how much traction this is finally getting, even though these stories are well known, and never generated movement for decades. I said this about Harvey about a week ago here, but it bears repeating: I’m a toolmaker in NH, with

I think I’ve settled on deciding to be happy that public shaming now seems to be working as an enforcement mechanism. I’d most prefer to live in a world where no one wants to rape or harass and secondarily opt for one where people dissociate with rapists and harassers voluntarily, but I’d rather live in one where

I feel sure that all of the abuse could stop right now, and there would still be enough A-holes outed for another 15 years for past deeds. So let the entertainment continue.

On one hand, it’s so saddening to hear about these stories. On the other hand, seeing all these animals fall like dominoes is awesome and I hope it keeps going on. Fear is the only weapon that works against men.

I freely admit that I’m a cynic at heart, so when I see a headline like this I can’t help but hear the voice in the back of my mind saying, “but they’re only doing it because...”

Good. He’s always been an asshole. I mentioned in another post that I did a photo shoot with him — he was dating a model at the time, and we were shooting in a public space. His big idea was for her to do it nude in this public space, with no mention of any area being curtained off so the public wouldn’t be able to
