Not a hard thing to do when he was one of a handful of people to be nice to her and give her life advice. Rey had Star Wars desert-bound protagonist syndrome but didn’t even have parents to find dead like Anakin and Luke did.

Also SW related. The Obiwan series wrapped filming. I still think it’s kinda silly because the storyline is so contrived but I’ll still like it lol. We’ve always known that Obiwan is hermit for 20 years on the desert planet Tatooine watching close by and waiting for his move to mentor Luke, but here comes the Disney+

I disagree with the idea that Vader being Luke’s father is a net negative. Even in the original film Luke’s was established as having a connection to him through his father and Obi-Wan so it’s not like he was a farm boy from nowhere to begin with. I’d argue it’s the one of the few times the connection is done well. I

What bothers me more than the family connection is just how repetitive the new trilogy feels. TFA is basically a soft remake of the original movie, and then the last one borrows the family connection as leverage for trying to win the hero over to the dark side and a theoretically less powerful villain turning on the

The story was much better when there wasn’t a reason why and Rey wasn’t special, just a vessel for the Force to balance itself out (I’d also argue that even though it’s maybe the most famous twist of all time, the reveal that Darth is Luke’s father was a net negative for both Star Wars, as it completely sold out the

Didn’t Harrison Ford famously stipulate that he’d only appear in the sequels if they killed him off? So it’s kinda hard to lay that particular decision at the feet of Abrams.

Lucas quit the business after she and George divorced.

The original movie? You can make a strong case for Marcia. Particularly if the lore that she single-handedly invented the third act is true, and I have no reason to think it’s not.

Making Star Wars into Star Wars-as-we-know-it? I’m gonna lay most of the credit at the feet of Kenner Toys, Marvel, and every other

Chewbacca!

You don’t get the magic of Star Wars.

I’m nearly positive that the cop who interviewed Terry was played by Jim Meskimen who you might recognize as the MC of the beauty pageant in Parks & Recreation or the MC of the Bad Place awards ceremony on The Good Place.

No way. Reginald Vel Johnson 100% told Bruce Willis that Jake sucks! That's what Peralta gets for making an enemy out of Reginald Vel Johnson!

I choose to believe year-from-now Peralta has taken a lucrative, low-effort side gig as a Hollywood consultant, and has met Bruce Willis at last.

That was a fantastic finale. And as others have pointed out, Jake’s growth over the course of the series is really amazing. Going from a dude who just wanted to live out every cop movie fantasy to being mature enough to not just put aside those fantasies to care of his child, but also let his wife shine, is a pretty

was wondering if this was the case too, but I like what we got better. the show did the Big Event Ending with the Jake/Amy marriage already, the low-stakesness of the last 10 minutes here felt a lot truer to the show imo

props to you too Dan Goor, fraud doctor

I wonder if they would have filmed a scene in Brooklyn (even if not the bridge) had the show not ended during a pandemic.

B99 has been fine the last 2-3 years, but I don’t think it ever really recovered and recaptured the magic following its cancellation. It’s been nice and good for a smile, but hasn’t been exceptional.

We can argue all we like about whether it’s propaganda or whatnot, but as cable shows become an endangered species and even the comedies get heavy as hell (see the “Broken” sketch from SNL), it was great to have a show so unapologetically silly and light. It was its time to go, but I’ll miss it.

This wasn’t their strongest season, but this was a very enjoyable finale. I thought it was a maybe a little too full of references to the past, but I liked seeing characters like Caleb and Mlepnos show up one last time.
