I don’t think you understand how stunning The Wire was for LGBTQI+ representation.

I don’t think there’s another actor who could’ve turned out the performance of when Omar testifies against Bird:
(unlike Bunk, who was from the same neighborhood).
Same. I’ve never watched The Wire (I know, I know, I’m a horrible monster) but his turn as Chalky was one of the best things about Boardwalk Empire.
I always loved this scene too. Chalky was the best character on the show.
“Well, I ain’t buildin’ no bookcase.” So much fucking talent, and Chalky White was the coolest.
Omar Little was iconic for a reason. Williams turned in such a raw, layered performance that he managed to create a man who was frightening, aggressive, sensitive, emotional, and tender. Yep. Omar was legendary and much more widely watched, but Chalky was not only equally iconic but brutally realistic. Scorsese pulled no punches, nor did Williams.
Boardwalk is what I first saw him in. Definitely one of the most immediately memorable parts of the show.
I’m totally an outlier, I know, but I liked Omar and LOVED Chalky. RIP.
RIP He certainly won’t be building no bookcases up there.
I know this is not where most people know him from but I loved him in Boardwalk Empire.
Ooph. Reading this article made me about five times more bummed out. This is the saddest shit, man.
Man this sucks. He was always a welcome face in any project he turned up in
There are few absolute iconic roles that stand the test of time, his Omar is definitely one of those.
Damn.
Terrible news.. should have had another 30 years.
So many of us connected with Omar and his code, even if he chose the path of being a criminal (unlike Bunk, who was from the same neighborhood).
Fuuuuuuuuuuck…
