so, I finally downloaded the game and it’s amazing! Put in some good hours this weekend (6 or so hours, which by my current standards is pretty good, although my younger self would scoff at those numbers) and have been pleasantly surprised by how much I don’t care about all those narrative issues I worried about…

I’d take the opposite view. We need to continue to bring all his incompetence to light (not that he makes it hard) because when we’re visited by aliens sometime in the future, once our society has killed itself off, we want them to record this one sentence description of our planet in their historical archives:
