I feel like this is the kind of the stuff that will eventually sell me on the game. Despite being in love with the visuals and music, I am holding off on purchasing because of the story and narrative execution issues. 

The head baddie can be Duterte. His death squads can serve as the cannon fodder (who are later turned into mindless bloodthirsty demons by some ancient artifact).

They must really love Trump’s trade wars then.

I’m of the same mind. I bought the Switch partly in anticipation of this game, but what seems to be a common criticism regarding execution of story and structure is worrisome to me.

It’s only “playing the game how it’s meant to be played” in a very loose sense. I don’t think anyone would argue that killing everyone as they are distracted watching a one-time in-game event is legit or “how the game is supposed to be played”, even if the game allows for it. Correction:

100% with you Nathan. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy these games (sometimes immensely), but I just can’t remember the last time I finished a Skyrim or BotW or Witcher 3 despite putting ~100+ hours into them and enjoying them immensely. I kind of just get bogged down near the mid-to-end game and never end up finishing.
