Harlan comes on local Bay Area radio quite often, and I've always enjoyed him as an interview and as an announcer, but this just took my love affair to a whole new level.

The problem with cutting downforce is that teams find new and creative ways to keep levels as high as possible (rear blown diffusers, the entire 2009 Brawn GP car, etc.) - you have to either cut downforce by such a dramatic amount that car lap times are nowhere near competitive to what they once were (read: track…
Sony recently took high end peripheral accessories for sim racing games (Fanatec products) which were previously compatible with the PS4 and made game developers all of a sudden stop supporting their products turning thousands of dollars Per user (and Sony consumer) of gear suddenly worthless. Fuck Sony right in their…
Gotcha, I didn't watch the whole way through, just the first few laps and didn't see him touch 4th yet so figured it didn't happen. Do you know if the Can Am 917s had 5 gears?
Ahhh, if they were 4 speeds that makes more sense. According to a quick scan of its Wiki page the car could be fitted with either 4 or 5 gears.. It’s possible the 5 gear versions were the later Can Am variants but I’m not sure. Would be interesting to see what the 917's top speed at Laguna would be since MotoGP bikes…
Maybe I'm not seeing this right, and I know Laguna is a short layout (that and Sears Point are my two home tracks), but did he never even get out of 3rd gear the entire time? Daaaammnnnn
On keeping with recent Deadspin style, shouldn’t this be “so Dong hard”?
I always thought the next verse had something to do with fingerbanging and orangutan. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This story has turned more into a story about Colin Kaepernick than about any issues of racial/social justice. And living in the media market that he has played in his entire professional career and seeing the tantrum he threw last year when he got benched, I’m taking a guess that he’s ok with it.
So when they said Gawker writers would find work on other sites, what was meant was that Gawker type articles would now just appear on other sites regardless of tie in!
Ah, I’m pretty sure he was only talking about that specific incident. It was akin to saying, you didn't have the talent to pull that move off (because physics wouldn't really allow that move to work). I don't think he was saying Rossi was a bad rider full stop.
Haha no it wasn’t. Rossi dove up the inside of him going into Turn 1 at Jerez and lost the front end wiping the both of them out. And if I remember correctly, Stoner won the World Championship that year. I like Rossi a hell of a lot but he’s made some boneheaded attacks in his career and that was definitely one of…
Summarizing a Casey Stoner quote to Valentino Rossi, his ambition is outweighing his talent.
My main takeaway from this race is that Verstappen has turned into Pastor Maldonado with a little more talent and a much faster car. It's very odd to me that he's yet to be punished for much of anything considering how heavy handed the stewards have been with other drivers this year. It's almost like he's protected.
This should be a new Olympic sport: Katie Ledecky vs Mclaren Honda in the 800m.
Is RG3 elite??
The most infuriating thing to me is reading the comments from all the 40-65 year old moms (I’m sure some men too I just didn’t see any this time) who think they are entitled to stay in the left lane because they are going the speed limit and therefore not “slow”. The main problem is we’ve deemed this lane the “fast…
My main take away from this was, fuck Chase Utley.
All I have to say is, fuck Chase Utley.
I have a totally heterosexual crush on Dan Neil’s writing. And his ties.
