Uh, we’ve been speaking up about this for years and years. Christian and culturally Christian people are typically too busy insisting that “Judeo-Christian values” exist (they don’t) to listen to us.

This piece does in fact state that the Jewish concept on this topic includes the mental and physical health and welfare of a pregnant person and is therefore indeed relevant to the issue beyond the life priorities as first and foremost.

I’m no Talmudic scholar, but I don’t think it’s always just an issue of life and death (even for more religious Jews). I think when you’re dealing with issues of, say, mental health, for example, it’s a lot greyer (e.g., someone with anxiety vs. someone severely incapacitated by their mental health issues).
