My 7yo loses her shit watching Snow White during the forest scene.
A commenter a few days ago shared the story of their wedding reception that was to be in the World Trade Center 6 weeks after 9/11 happened. And didn't get all the deposits back. BUT- was able to replan and have a wedding anyway in time!
I do the dinner joke, ripped off from my dad, and the bean doesn't find it amusing at all.
Nice summation paragraph.
What???? That's a thing now? I'll judge, if you call all pop/soda/soft drinks lemonade, you will be voted off my island.
She does. I was also thinking that she looked like one of the Olsen twins there.
But, there’s a prominent rainbow in the bible, the end of the Noah’s ark story. So she’s upholding something christian. Although if I were in her place, I’d tell the rude neighbour to suck it because I’m mature that way, the lights don’t harm anyone. The roof is a little much though.
Oh my god, I'm mortified for her. So many levels of bad. Thank goodness for girlfriends.
So what would you use instead? Liar-liar-pants-on-fire also misses some nuance. This isn’t a situation with much presidance, so has an appropriate word been invented? Like I’ve heard of blacks ‘passing’ as white, but that was usually as a disguise for safety.... This? Doesn't have the nice and neat label that people…
Two years ago, my region had devastating flooding, that among other things, took out the water station and wells in my town. We had NO water for weeks, then was brought in from a neighbouring town with a damn firehose. A year+ later, we finally had reliable supply. Tell me again how your situation is worse.
I know myself well enough to know I couldn't foster, the people who can have my admiration.
I think I paid for my criminal check and dr note saying that I’m not about to die. Fostering and adoption are different. Fostering is promising to look after a child (ren) and give them up when another situation is found. Adoption is promising to be a parent forever. If you or someone you know is interested in this…
Adoption is essentially free through the foster system. There's no need to spend thousands unless that choice is made. I wish more people knew that.
It's not okay to leave trash anywhere, theaters shouldn't be considered special etiquette bubbles where the employees are super stoked to clean up after you.
Few things piss me off as much as people who think adopting is like going out buying new shoes. It’s intensely emotional and makes you doubt and second guess everything about your life. I can’t speak to the experiences of those who use science to build a family, but adopting is about as ‘on purpose’ as anything can…
If I know someone reasonably well, I have asked if not having kids was by choice or by chance. I respect if it’s by choice, and it may lead to more conversation (or not). I also have experience with the by chance, and that could also lead to more conversation. But I’m not going to try and make someone fit on the neat…
I remember when I met a new coworker, after our introductions at this lunch meeting, he goes “so I bet you’re a busy hockey mom, right?”
