No, the END result (when you actually file your taxes) is exactly the same as your normal income. Withholding isn’t your actual tax (hell, you can magically change your “tax rate” just by changing your W4 throughout the year) its a security measure to ease the burden on collecting tax and to make it less impactful on

Ouch. Facts do matter. And yours are off.

Lol, I don’t think you read your own link or understand it.

This isn’t true. While withholding might be higher (a $1k bonus would have a 25% federal tax withholding), income is income. That person, if they were in the 12% tax bracket, would get money back when the file their tax return.

Bonuses are taxed at whatever rate your final tax bracket will be, you are probably thinking of lottery winnings.

Another day, another company announcing they will be increasing comp for their employees because of the tax cuts, another outrage post from Splinter about how it’s not enough.

There is obviously a lot of very bad (if not non-existent) planning and decision making that went into this guy being in the position he’s in now, as in no drivers license, no real plan of how to support himself (not to even go into the girlfriend issue), no end-goal beyond “not wanting a 9-5 lifestyle”, and, most

I’m not roasting him it’s just that he had the chance of bailing out before hitting the bottom. I mean, how silly can you be? Even lost his GF and GFs take a lot before they leave you.

Man this is my worry all the time with some family members. Some have wised up and got with the program but some... Well, as an example my uncle just died about a year ago. Never married, never had a career. lived the nomad life. He never could afford to take care of his body, had no retirement to speak of. he was 72

The “Instagram model” economy is an interesting beast. How people fail to see that it’s all marketing and these are paid professional “wanderes” or “fitness models” is a bit beyond me. Then again, I’m a cynical asshole, so I assume everybody is lying.

Really, you’re way up on your moral high horse I can’t even see you from here... have you considered there are people needier than him? Who for some reason though not their fault are on the skids nonetheless?

The big thing is how are these people expecting to survive into adulthood and retirement? What are you going to do when you throw even age 20-30 away on not just career growth, but also social security, 401k/IRA, etc etc etc? What about health insurance? It’s easy to go do that, up until you need a bailout. Luckily

I don’t think I can work up any sympathy for someone who decides to live in a truck because he saw it on youtube and then is surprised that a truck doesn’t make a very good year-round home.

This is the most millenial thing I’ve read all day.

I’m guessing the only reason his parents aren’t bailing him out is that they thought this was a stupid idea.

I don’t think too many people really appreciate how much skill and initiative is required to survive as a rootless/homeless person. Thinking you can just hit the road and survive on odd jobs indefinitely is how you end up in situations like this.

No savings no job no house and throwing everything else away for a dream AND doubling down on it when an out was offered... if it weren’t for the dog I’d feel no sympathy for the guy at all.

People bitch about RV ownership while dropping $10-$15 a day on lunch, go out to eat dinner/visit bars frequently, buy the hottest tech, wear the most trendy clothes/shoes, and travel to either Europe or the Caribbean every year or two.

How did you manage to turn this into not only a political post but also make it sound bad that people once again have disposable income and can afford to make purchases like this? Not to mention 88% of the units sold are tow-ables. Which means they use zero fuel.

Believe it or not, I achieve the same results with my cast iron griddle/grill and my large cast iron skillet. I put the griddle/grill on the top rack while I preheat the oven at the highest temp, with the cast iron skillet turned upside down (so the flat bottom is facing upward) on the middle rack. Once the oven’s hot
