$35k dollars for a “minor hit” is shocking for sure. I feel like I am in crazy town. 

I’m sorry, come again? You said a $50k car, if it takes a minor hit in the front corner, will be a $35k repair bill? What?

Where is the VANOS on an E36? On a E90 it is bolted right to the front of the motor. Every oil change I remove both mine (double vanos) and clean them up, check the gasket, etc. Takes an extra 5 minutes.

I like your post and you are right on some things there. I have many of the same feeling as you do with regard to helping others. It is generally accepted that screws are righty-tighty because it is easier for right-handed people to tighten them.

Yep, I can’t count how many oil changes or brake jobs I have done for various friends for a case of beer just because the dealers “$400 brake job” does not compute for me when a friend runs it by me. 

Similar to a lady on our local FB group. She just moved here and was wondering about how bad we get hit by storms, in DE. When we get a direct hit in our area it can be bad, check sump pumps, plenty of good advice was given...

yep. my buddy actually had to go to Maine on business and is picking up a ridiculous amount of Alchemist, Tree House, and stuff from a few other breweries up there to mule back here for us in DE. 

I find it very funny that my dad LOATHES my brother in law for the same reason, my sister can barely get him to cut the grass.

block ice is cool and all but get yourself some 1 or 2 gallon ziploc bags, fill with water, close, freeze, then use if needed. fit better in top of fridge, and don’t leak like a block of ice might/probably will.
