A lot of interviewing someone is trying to see if they are bullshitting you. If the references check out, that’s one more check in the hired column. But if the references are fake or the people have a different relationship to the person than they claimed, those are red flags that will prompt you to dig further or go

I would rather them do it right and charge me than give it for free and have your attitude.

How many retail purchasers have proofs of purchase? I know I don’t.

puns aside, you were fine with mustang but not bale?

For me, the best guest editors are the ones that throw out some fun articles and generate some good conversations. I think you hit a home run here. I cringed at some of the hateful comments you received throughout the weekend but at least some of those people had the class to realize their mistake and apologize when

Thanks for responding again. I enjoy the change of pace that the guest editors bring and doc has been especially enjoyable. His articles have created a lot of fun conversations.

Did he edit the article or something? I’ve been following most of his articles this weekend and the only mention of an illness I remember seeing was in a comment reply to another comment specifically asking about it.

You just had to go there...

While I don’t enjoy seeing HL2 knocked off its pedestal, your praise of fear... Fuck yeah. That series was fantastic, especially the first.

sounds like you and i need to make a game.

I thought that the shaky cam was too much only in a few areas in hardcore henry. overall, i thought they did a very good job of making 1st person work in a movie. the lady that almost vomited is the reason we all have to sit through a 30 sec seizure warning on every ubisoft game...

I think you have a really convincing theory, but I’ve yet to see a game pull off what you described and also be scary (as scary as amnesia and outlast). For me, amnesia and outlast were super scary in ways that no other game has come close. The water monster in amnesia made me almost pee my pants. I’m just

Your logic has no place here, sir!

Those are good points. For me though, I think the good horror games create that sense of lost hope in different ways. Amnesia seemed to do that gradually throughout the game. Outlast did it in several different places.

I think this applies to movies too.

You’re first person, do you have trouble connecting to yourself?

I also prefer horror movies to end with the evil still alive even though they thought they killed it.

Yeah this is all good discussion. And like you said, it’s a very subjective topic.

Hmm, I’m definitely firmly in the camp that for a game to be truly scary (for me, at least) there needs to be zero weapons (or at least very very few). Amnesia is one of my favorite games ever and one of the few that truly scares me. Outlast too. Looking forward to Soma but the reviews have been pretty mixed so I

yeah exactly. i get excited in any game when i walk into a bathroom. “ok, this is it, i get to see what my character looks like.” approach mirror - all i see are the stalls behind me. :(
