This is a very well made argument. Nice work. As a result we all now get to hear a bunch of wondering dribble from some triggered muskers.
There was definitely a calculated visual aesthetic from the architecture to the cars and the costumes. It was like if the 50's never ended but technology shot forward a hundred years.
They went out of their way to build unreasonable levels of hype for their game in the hopes of getting sales, then failed to meet the expectations they themselves set in the minds of many of their customers.
Buses that run the same routes in dedicated lanes? We’ve had that tech for over a century, it’s called a trolley.
I don’t know, I went into CP2077 with very little by way of expectations and I felt like I was playing an ugly, unfinished mess of a game full of broken and missing mechanics with a super high gloss of finish on it.
And yet, DS3 and the upcoming Elden Ring—games hyped beyond all reason, with equally rabid fanbases—had/have nowhere near as much controversy regarding when they were released—to the former—and the radio silence from devs in the case of the latter.
They weren’t pushed to release it early, they set the original release date themselves, and then pushed it back almost a year. This was solely on CDPR’s management.
I didn’t know that wasn’t Geena Davis in old makeup until just now!
Even though I saw a different name in the credits, I refused—nay, I STILL REFUSE—to believe that older Dottie was NOT Geena Davis in old person makeup.
It’s probably Madonna’s best screen performance, precisely because she’s a relatively minor role of the ensemble and she really did seem to reign it in to work within the group.
Madonna also elevated the movie’s exposure with the hit theme song.
If I recall, he does not HAVE a heart condition, just the DNA to show that he will likely develop one.
This... was a catastrophically bad career decision (she got her pay-or-play so maybe not that bad, but no one casts you for the roles you didn’t play). Based on silliness. Madonna’s role was pretty small. It’s not cameo-small, and she was definitely part of the draw for the film given that she was like the biggest pop…
Been a while, but more or less how I recalled it: basically the odds of him having a heart condition were ever so slightly above average, much like the odds of a person being overweight just by looking at food vs. concentrated effort. So his whole life was based on probability, not actuality. And it wasn’t exactly a…
The constant DNA checks are explained by the fact that in the film’s world, your DNA is your ID. Rather than use key cards that can be stolen or forged, a DNA scan at the door ensures nobody gets unauthorized access. It just happens to also provide the company with continuous monitoring.
“Nobody suspected naturally born people would be impersonating the genetically upgraded so there was no need for this systemic level of paranoia.”
I think the film either implied or stated directly that other people had pulled the same scam as Vincent, only less successfully, so there’s an awareness that it happens and needs to be checked. After all, how would Tony Shalhoub’s character stay in business if this weren’t somewhat common?
The aesthetic of this movie is terrific.
