didn’t even read past the title. Answer is, NOPE! Moved to the northern suburbs from Arizona on January 1st, 2014. I owned a RWD 4Runner that did quite well on some nice all-seasons. This past summer I sold the 4Runner and bought an FR-S as my only car. With a good set of winter tires (Blizzak WS80s in my vase) it

Well yeah, he drove Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden in a Fury.

You know how some people lie on the internet? I have no doubt your username is true.

People who yield to faster traffic get to heaven faster.

At least they would if I was in charge.

it’s funny, I feel the same way, but residents always talk about how bad Utah drivers are.

I agree. The only thing I noticed was there is a great variety of speed, which is dangerous. Yes, the slower drivers are usually quick to move to the rightmost lane (or the center lane if they’re within a mile of an on ramp), but some drivers had no issue going well over the limit, while others, perhaps those who know

I moved from Salt Lake City to west of St. Louis for a year, and I am happy to be back... it seems that the driving instruction in MO didn’t include the usage of turn signals, whatsoever. and everyone drives much slower in MO than in Utah.

depends on where you are I guess. The majority of the time its pretty true...then there is Utah Valley.

I understand everything you’re saying, I guess I’m just bummed about it. I was hoping this was a single-car effort, that might have showcased what could feasibly be done in normal circumstances. But the Suburban chase vehicle was a huge buzzkill.

I just don’t think VW has that kind of clout to sell a pick up truck in the US, they still got a girly flower child rep to a lot of people, especially truck buyers. It’d be a hard sell because you’d have to convince people to buy this over the prestige pick ups like the ram and the fords

That’s crazy. I have seen a few Ram trucks and Toyota Tundras (as well as one Ford F150 Raptor) around, but all have been imported and converted to right hand drive at what I can only imagine must have been a considerable expense.

The official figures say it has a 0-60mph time of 10.9 seconds. I wasn’t able to confirm that time myself, but it felt far quicker. Wouldn’t that (and the 420nm of torque, from quite low down in the rev range) be enough? I mean apart from the difference in power.

Yes, Mexican built trucks are ok. I know GM and Ram have plants there, not sure about Ford tho.

Can confirm, would trade my full-size truck for a TDI / manual / 4x4 Amarok in an instant.

Enough to get it moving? I’ve driven the 2.0 BiTDI 4motion with the 8 speed auto, and while it doesn’t exactly set the road alight it can actually get out of it’s own way pretty quickly. The torque is great.

Nah, Toyota killed the single cab a few months ago. New MPG mandates for single cab trucks was ridiculous so they had to kill them. Here’s an interesting read from an old article.

Yeah. Its all about visual impact. Take a 83-87 Chevy 1/2 ton and compare it to new. So long as you aren’t comparing a short box to a long box or a regular cab to an extended cab, they are basically the same size (except in height, trucks have gotten a bit taller) but unless you park one next to another, you would

Yeah I’ve seen Napa, Vato Zone and O’reilly use old Rangers and Colorados but have switched to king cab Frontiers or single cab Tacomas and I was just talking to the manager of O’Reilly about the killing of single cab trucks and he says it’ll just be the added useless cost of having that partial cab. So I can tell you

I remember this one time many years ago when my parents and I took a taxi to the airport. The cab showed up on time, the cabbie was polite and cleanly dressed, the car was clean and well-maintained, and he got us there promptly while driving safely.

The solution is to start building it somewhere in the NAFTA zone... like Mexico.
