the irony of your use of the word “surgical”

oh god, if that was true, Reagan would not have supported dictators like Marcos and fed him millions and the CIA wouldnt have been torturing college students thinking these kids were looking for yamato’s gold.

We didn’t ask Iraq what they wanted. 3,000 of our citizens were killed by well funded terrorists. It was time to take down one of our enemies. The intelligence agencies of the world believed that Saddam still had weapons of mass destruction (the weapons he had used to kill 5,000 people already...) So no, Iraq didn’t

We bomb people with robots from the sky, we install puppet governments, we start wars on bad information. We killed an estimated 3200 to 4800 civilians during the Iraq invasion (these are our own estimates), though the number is closer to 8000 when actually documented and not estimates.

Torture is torture, no matter the method or who does it.

Waterboarding is just the tip of the iceberg. We’ve starved people, we’ve kept people up for literally days with light and sound treatments, covered them in insects, stuffed people into boxes and chained people in crazy positions, and that’s just the stuff we actually have proof of happening.

If you start including the horrors commited by states or religions the list will be very, very long. The Japanese and Germans during WW II, forr example, didn’t lack imagination. Even US torture in Bagram, Guantanamo and other places is pretty horrible.

Have taken many rides in long-trek buses, it became obvious to me after 2-3 rides that nothing of any value should ever be put under the bus.

I agree. The standard for our behavior is not the extremely low bar set by the Trump campaign and its supporters. Taking this argument to a ridiculous extreme, when the Abu Ghraib photos leaked and we learned that the US was torturing enemy combatants there were people responding that Saddam Hussein tortured people

I know. Which is even more reason not to give them ANY moral ground whatsoever. Destruction of property is not OK. It’s not okay for terrorists to burn down churches because they don’t agree with you. It’s not okay to burn crosses on the lawns of black people. It’s not OK to torch lawn signs on people’s

Amen. Leave other people’s signs alone, even if they support a racist demagogue, even if you are in your underwear, you’ve had a couple of schnapps on a cold night, you have a blow torch, and even if it is SUCH an awesome idea. Even if.

It’s basic suppression of freedom of speech. That right to protest stops right before you touch that sign

She actually ran for her state house (did pretty well!), governor, Secretary of the Commonwealth and was elected as a representative of her Town Meeting Board. Contrary to what many on here are saying, Greens do run down-ballot and it’d help a lot if they got 5% and federal funding.

I guess a lot of people feel like it’s self evident that there should be at least one major party that isn’t gung ho about bombing the hell of brown people and staging coups in democratic countries whenever it happens to serve our current interests.

Be a cold day in hell. I will continue voting for Jill Stein, even got some Bernie supports to skip Hillary and go Johnson or Stein. It is an exciting time for third party supporters, been a while since any of them come close to double digits.

This is not correct. Achieving 5% of the vote provides access to Presidential Election Campaign Fund monies in the following cycle. It’s critical people stop voting for Democrats and Republicans and start voting for 3rd parties even if their candidates won’t be “viable” for another several decades.

The point I was making was not a city comparison between Lisbon and Tampa, but the scale difference between the United States and Europe. So, even taking into account the initial date of settlement, there’s a reason why, on scale alone, you have cities in America which stretch hundreds of square miles in incorporated

Yes it is true, cities are generally built in places where there are natural resources like water and good soil to grow crops. America has lots of places like that. I’m sure some of our original cities were located near large rivers due to commerce, eg moving goods up and down the Mississippi river.

Some are heading those same committees. :P

The cool thing about tape though, is that you can’t circumvent it via digital means. With either of these applications, you’re relying on the app developer having more advanced code than the adversary. Probably not a safe bet if the attacker is already in your computer.
