Exactly! I thought that, too. I launch the ARK in to space and humanity “lives” on that way. Why do I need to destroy the WAU beforehand? It’s not like there’s anything left on Earth worth losing if I keep WAU running.

The “horror” of WAU is only apparent if you are still in Pathos-II. If for example, the WAU made a copy of Wan and Semkens (just like Simon) and they are set loose in the world, then it would not be so bad. These machines are able to communicate and survive the surface radiation. The hopelessness and loneliness are…
I thought the ARK and the WAU were two different chances for humanity. I saw no reason to exterminate the WAU if the ARK could be launched. The WAU would continue doing what it does and possibly restore humanity and the surface world someday, or it might reshape the earth to be a living cyberscape, connecting…
Except you wouldn’t be going into the ARK. An exact duplicate of you at that moment would go into the ARK, along with an exact duplicate of Catherine. The you that pushed that button to launch the ARK is still there, there is no “coin flip” and there never was. Everything you did in the game was doomed to leave you…
Interesting glitch for SOMA... grab a chair, jump on top of it while you’re holding it, and jump jump jump. You’ll lift up into the air. You can basically get anywhere, including outside of the level.
I just finished playing SOMA last night and wow I can’t stop thinking about it. Absolutely fantastic writing, perhaps the best in a video game ever made! Also, I have a real fear of the deep ocean so my experience was one of overcoming those fears which made me connect more with the character I was playing as he too…
SOMA players have discovered—and solved—something weird. If you shove a plastic toy into the toilet and flush, a set…
I appreciate your interest in our MOBA coverage and many of your other comments, but I want to make it super clear that I will not tolerate people using language like “don’t talk BS unless you know your shit noob.” It’s shitty to respond to a difference of opinion by swearing and calling someone else a “noob.”
Kotaku readers help Yannick with Dota? I’m down. I love learning about other MOBAs from ya so the least we can do it teach you.
Let’s say you’ve dabbled in League of Legends, but have always been afraid to give Dota 2 a shot. Sure, all the…
I want you to Dota with me Yannick. I want you to understand the Dotas.
DOTA 2’s first Valve-hosted major is happening in November. Valve is hoping to give pros a more reliable source of income by hosting multiple events throughout the year (instead of just The International). This one will take place in Frankfurt, Germany, with $3 million on the line. More details here.
ALSO: I want to keep covering fun, interesting, ambitious, and generally cool custom games for Dota 2 since I think they’re a great part of the game—not to mention something its competitors don’t do anywhere near as good a job at supporting. I’d also like to do a round-up of all the best ones at some point in the near…
You should include this:
I really feel like roster diversity is one of the biggest problems in LoL and was one of the reasons I totally stopped playing - (in fairness, the other being that DotA was always my home, and DotA2 finally got good enough in 2011-2012 for me to be happy with).
This works much better for Dota than LoL simply due to the fact that in Dota almost all heroes are atleast somewhat considered viable while in LoL 70% of the roster is being completely ignored.
High-level competitive games almost unanimously have the same problem: players use a very narrow range of…
Is this worse then Long Pikachu? Yes, I think it is.
