The marine cam was available for both rotations and the 2 barrel manifold was available on the Volare and other 80s-ish models (called the “super 6")

My 170, with all factory parts and a lot of tweaking (and modifying), put out 206HP to the rear wheels (at 6500RPM) (160+ lb ft of torque) - didn’t idle worth a crap and ate spark plugs for breakfast - but it was FUN!!!
They always had a ballast resistor - and untill the electronic ignition that required the “double” resistor, they were dead reliable. Which is why, if you want to go to electronic ignition, I recommend the Pertronix instead of the Mopar electronic ignition conversion.
Or any other kind of lights -- - - - - ---
IF you feel the need to get rid of the points just put in a Pertronix - much better and simpler than an OEM upgrade - and the 225 was available with a 2 barrel in later years which WAS a reasonable upgrade - but definitely not “needed” - and properly set up I NEVER had choke problems on any of mine. The car has 5 stud…
no aluminums in ‘66.
My brother bought a “cream puff” ‘65 and we found out it had likely not seen more than 2 or 3 oil changes in 10 years - it was sludged up REAL BAD - we blew that one up. I drove mine like I’d stolen them and couldn’t kill ‘em.
More likely didn’t read the records - or if he did he didn’t understand them and he took the word of the guy who inherited grampa’s valiant. (Home schooled doncha know)
My 1963 with the 170 incher (Valiant) would bury the speedo with no problem at all. My 1969 225 (dart) topped out at 104 - 75MPH is just loafing for any slant 6 passenger car. And 155000 miles if the engone has had reasonable maintenance (frequent oil changes) is nicely broken in.
The are 5X, not 4X
All it took was an extra 5 or 7 psi even in the ‘stones to avoid the problem.
None of you guys watch the Barrett Jackson auction in Texas last week?? Bet it’s a $30000 truck all day long at the auction.
You guys are joking, right??? Sure the Euro Fords like the Mystique had connector problems (as did some Taurus) but I have not had an “electrical gremlin” of ANY sort in my ‘96 Ranger (the “step-brother” of the Explorer) and it’s got 375000+ Km under it’s belt in the central Ontario snow belt. Not sure I’d put out…
It’s Green FIELD village in Dearborn Michigan
Bet he’s not much over 50% of what he’s invested unless he did it all himself for a buck an hour.
Almost any well sorted / preserved / restored 25 to 35 year old car is worth more than original list price to the right buyer. Particularly ragtops.
No way did he build it for $15,500. He likely has $30000 invested. You could not reproduce the car, with that quality for less than that. It should be at the Barrett Jackson auction. Then all he’d need is 2 prople interested.
Except the modern “hemi” IS NOT a HEMI. It does NOT have a hemispherical combustion chamber. It’s “Nostalgia Marketing”.
They made it to Canada but did not sell well
IF I were ever to buy another MitsuShitty I’d be tempted at $10000 if I was flush - which I won’t and I’m not. It IS in nice shape - They WERE a nice car, and as a young fella I WOULD have considered it instead of the Colt if I had the money - but if I had that money I would more likely have bought a Celica
