Why is it dumb to single her out? She’s the only one competing with her condition.

This would only be a fair criticism if she were being banned from the mens competition. She has chromosomal and t-levels consistent with a man and that are the entire reason for separate women sports.

Well, she has testicles and XY chromosomes. She also has no female reproductive organs.

This is not the same as Phelps.

You are flat out wrong.

No, gender normalcy is not the whole problem. Semenya has an XY chromosome and elevated T-levels. That has nothing to do with her gender.

“a condition that in it of itself does not confer on her any specific advantage.”

It is public knowledge released by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Rikki-Tikki-Deadly posted the link in another reply above.

I don’t see how this is racist in anyway. Honestly, I can’t see any racist ange to this at all. You may be 100% correct that some women feel “feminism is only for white women”, I have no way of knowing that, BUT THIS case seem devoid of racial inequities, as most of the athealtes this women feels are being

She has XY chromosomes according to Hogshead-Makar. This is an INCREDIBLY important detail that all the Deadspin writers intentionally omit. That, along with the highly elevated T levels should pretty much end the debate.

Pictured are the three women who placed behind Semenya at the Diamond League last week:

yeah and KD got 3 free throws late for kicking his leg out. What’s your point?

From testicles. They’re protecting women’s running from testicles

All three 2016 Olympic 800m medalists are believed to be intersex. The IAAF is trying to protect women’s running from a future where non-intersex women have no chance at winning these races.

Her kicking the ever loving shit out of everyone because she has the T levels of a man!

I guess the best answer would probably be that they are protecting it from people who are biologically male competing against a protected class of athletes that they have an unbelievable advantage over.

Protecting events like the 800 from being dominated by intersex athletes, which undermines what makes women’s sports interesting as a separate category, and also cutting off the slippery slope into questions about transgender athletes as we continue to question what makes men men and women women.

Deadspin has dug in their heels on a really bad take with the whole Caster Semenya story. It is just an ugly situation, but that does not mean it is discriminatory. Look, the athletics categories are “male” and “female”, and we are not talking about those categories in terms of which one you personally identify as.

Dives in hockey are usually pretty easy to tell. If a player gets legitimately knocked down, they tend to spring right back up so they don’t get caught out of position or they immediately get up and go after the person who hit them in some mistaken form of machismo.

I love how people are most concerned about spoilers for movies that have the most predictable plot outcomes.

This is such a tired take. Let’s make something clear. Anyone who chooses to participate in public discourse has no right to whine about having something spoiled. This idea that a person can simultaneously (and, voluntarily) choose to participate in a public forum AND choose what does or doesn’t get said in said

Why is all of Gizmodo so condescending about spoilers?
