Quake 1's campagin was awful, Quake 2 however was fun

no old school shooters got bland, the term Doom clone was used for a reason. You have just forgtotten about them. The problem is you have forgoten all of the bad ones and only remember the handful of good ones.

ehh no they got boring, I mean Unreal was only making Tournaments which why make new ones when the previous ones were better. They needed to wait till there was a huge graphical upgrade.

to be fair the old classic shooters got bland and boring which is why people flocked to the military shooters, and now those became bland and boring. It’s a cycle
