With US Catholics the most liberal of all Catholics, and their children more liberal still, I wonder how these institutions are able to maintain the fiction that their faculties and student bodies represent the views of a bunch of old men in red robes.

It's a thing, I guess. Reading the books, it seemed obvious but I thought I was just projecting. If you're gay, you notice it. If you're not gay, you need to take a moment, like when your favorite uncle finally comes out. Some get over the moment, and some start throwing the cranberry sauce.

I know that, yes. If you pay close attention, you'll see my writing is a mix of English conventions, and my English speaking friends hail from all over the world. I've had plenty of discussions concerning the c-word, as well as other words. I don't consider any gendered insult to be mild. I don't use the b-word as a

This guy is a jackass. Now that being said I'll probably get called a homophobe for this but I was not a fan of the Dumbeldore is gay announcement. Not because I have an issue with the character being gay, but because there was no evidence in the book that this was the case and it felt like a bit of click bait and an

"Saqqara, in Egypt, is the oldest stone complex ever built by humans" Newgrange in Ireland was built in 3200BC and is still standing. Just sayin...

In this particular case, the pile of rocks should be preserved because it is part of a cultural heritage for the entire world. The rocks were laid down thoughtfully by ancient humans, not solely by nature. There are plenty of other abandoned structures that nature is currently reclaiming (hello Chernobyl!) but this

Oldest stone complex? what about Göbekli Tepe...

"oldest stone complex ever built by humans" you don't count Gobekli Tepe?

correction - Gobekli Tepe is the oldest stone complex in the world. Saqqara is one of the oldest pyramids in egypt.

I think it's awesome that you're bringing attention to the travesty, but I don't know that it's even close to being older than Turkey's Göbekli_Tepe

She is only 16 NOT 18, the national pageant organisers lied and changed her age.

Every action in this case - from an organized gang rape to a code designed to protect the school's reputation despite it putting all its female students at risk - is exactly why few are impressed at the anti-date rape drug nail polish as a tool for ending rape. This problem is deep and the cultural attitudes and

Were? Still not an open field even though open support seems ok.

From reading the internet, it seems like there's a lot more overt sexism in the US than in Europe. Or Northern Europe at least. But I should know better than trusting the internet. It could just be that the Americans are better at speaking up, and I'm really glad they are.

They've been forcing them to hand out fake Mexican food, this is just the logical next step.

this is why i, a pansexual woman, only watch male gay porn. i can't take how women are pictured and handled in the vast majority of the porn i've seen. dudes in gay porn, even though they're strictly speaking are presented through the male gaze, still get to retain so much more of their humanity and enjoyment of sex.

I'd star your comment 10 times if I could.

I don't know that porn per se is the issue. I'd say a substantial part of it is not so much the images as that they tend to be presented and accepted by a reasonable portion of the population as realistic, rather than as very specific male fantasy of what sex is - or at least should be - like.
