I’m talking only about the Woody Allen movie. And you’re right, I’ve lost respect for many an actor/actress who continues to work with him. But this particular item was about Justin and his “woke” quote, which seriously, sooooo much of this lately in Hollywood lately. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Fuck JT. Seriously, every time I see that Wonder Wheel trailer (which is basically every time I’ve been to the movies in the past few weeks), I get queasy.

He literally named names to the police and they did nothing! That’s infuriating.

Trans actors barely get roles so spare me about how letting Cis people tell our stories is limiting Trans actors.

This doesn’t look like a note that was intended to elucidate the receiver as much as it was to be cathartic for the sender.

It is incredibly denigrating, insulting, and erasing to be played by a male. Trans women aren’t men pretending to be women. We are women. A man playing a woman erases our whole identity and replaces it with a stereotype of female caricature.

I do think that almost all of the time you should believe the victim and that very few woman lie about sexual assault.

I think you bring up a good point, and no, I don’t think it’s inherently wrong to believe the men you love. However, if you’re a public figure like Lena, and you feel the need to release a statement that the victim is lying, even though you have no way of actually knowing what happened, that’s where you cross a line.

Maybe by staying quiet until She had all the facts? All they basically did was make the writer’s situation even worse by inserting themselves into the story.

One is straight up erasing or insulting or denigrating.

I’m sick of hearing “Get a transperson” as if the only thing that’s required to act is being the same as the character you’ll be portraying. Get a transperson if they can give the character more than their status as a transperson.

Orange is the New Black solved this in a clever way, but not one available to many trans actors. When Laverne Cox’s character was shown in flashbacks, prior to her transition, the character was played by Cox’s twin, who identifies as male.

Not one person in this thread suggested only having trans actors. You seem to think actually BEING trans is not a major advantage in undertaking a trans person’s feelings. That just sounds dismissive and insulting.

Your original comment in this thread:

There are many other characters that are/could have been bigger names that would draw a new viewership in.

Maura should have been played by a transwoman from the get-go. I love Transparent, but come on. There are PLENTY of talented transwomen who could have played this role. I usually would feel put off for subbing out an actress part way through a role (Becky on Roseanne, anybody?) but I think Maura’s character is so

Jesus Christ, get a trans woman to replace Tambor. It’s not that hard.

Yes she is such fucking scum and the living embodiment of the white feminist stereotype.

But stream detectives later pointed out that Lengyel’s reporting of a player was somewhat merited; it was a player from a previous game that had refused to switch off a character, even when they were repeatedly dying.

Wait... so you can report people for simply being bad at the game? That seems stupid. Is there not some sort of ranking system on place to handle that automatically?
