I haven't seen the movie yet, but I agree that Peter should be a kindhearted nerd. The thing about Spider-Man is that he doesn't always do the right thing but he always TRIES to do the right thing. I think that's where the whole "with great power comes great responsibility" motto comes from.

The soap opera in the hospital thing made no sense, diminished the dramatic impact of Cam and Mitchell's struggle to adopt, and was just tonally wrong. But the episode was still effective because of Ed O'Neill's layered and sympathetic performance and a few very funny moments.
