Top speed of 30mph (~48 km/h) is quoted in the article. And sure, instant electric torque certainly helps. But it still seems like pulling 1,000 lbs up hills regularly would thoroughly tax such an electric motor with batteries that have an advertised range of 43 miles.

And while that wouldn’t be even remotely viable for the majority of American cities, it could certainly work in New York or San Francisco, for example.

I disagree, but only emotionally, and I can definitely see your points as valid. I think my disagreement is more from a feeling of nostalgia than one of logic and reason. FO3 felt so revolutionary at the time, that I sunk many, many hours into it and played through it a few more times just because.
