When asked for comment about crackdowns during Bills’ tailgates, Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan took his shirt off, slammed a Jack-O Traveler Pumpkin Shandy, and showed everyone his dick.
I’m sorry about whatever trauma Danielle has experienced
Know what else creates a toxic atmosphere? Continuing to beat the dead horse after someone repeatedly apologizes and stops further conversation on the topic that offended.
Randy Edsall, for those wondering, currently has a made up job working for the Detroit Lions which he is absurdly underqualified for. Randy Edsall can die in a fire. Fuck Randy Edsall. Someone send this comment to him.
Srsly. As a fellow woman and liberal, and a sexual assault survivor, I’d have laughed at this joke. Hell, I’d have MADE this joke. It’s funny.
Except, rape wasn’t the joke. The ‘offended victim’ made it out to be a rape joke, then attacked the rape joke.
She created a strawman to get offended about, and wouldn’t let go.
To me, that’s beyond toxic. This victim is the perp, and she was looking for something to be offended about.
This rape joke would be funnier with the bed Antione Dodson saying it and a techno remix.
This is where “socially conscious” turns into “overly pc nonsense”. I’m all for safe, focused work environments (and certainly Apple needs to investigate and make sure that they have one) and I’m certainly no rape apologist, but people in an office joke around and blow off steam. Griping about workmates quoting a…
I’m not on Jezebel, right? Good, okay. Fuck that woman. That’s all I have to say.
Rapes not funny. The song is funny. You can run and tell that home boy.
Thing is, the song they referenced doesnt even advocate or glamourize rape. The guy is saying that that community wont take it anymore and that theyre out to catch the guy. So it isnt insensitive, or even very inappropriate except that the guys were reminded of it from the alerts.
A singular instance, which was immediately retracted upon confrontatoin apparently without even needing a supervisor or HR to step in?
Jesus fucking Christ, this new morality gestapo is frightening. These peiple wont rest until we are all wearing grey unisex burkas and humour is outlawed.
I’m guessing this is one of those times where your HR person rubs their temples and curses. How do you respond to a well known joke/meme that has no intended venom? Going by only her account, this is an ongoing issue that has been escalated multiple times. Going by that chat log, its a one time occurrence that the…
Her PTSD does not give her cart blanche to demand people get fired.
The other thing, he wasn’t joking about rape... just saying every time he hears an intruder alert it reminds him of the bed intruder song...
So, I know I’m going to be excoriated for this, but I ask in all honesty, how is this that big a deal? A couple of points of thought:
Oh for fuck sake, he immediately apologized. What else could he possibly do?
Sorry, she’s blowing this out of proportion. The Intruder song was a massive cultural phenomenon, and not a rape joke. At no point in the chat did anyone joke about rape. It was being referenced as a joke and clearly did not create a sexualized / pro-rape work environment.
