First instinct? After 20+ years doing this on TV, that was his first instinct.

Whoever would be offended by the notion that many young reporters sound this way, such as H.R. at the NBC affiliates who hire them. And tomorrow the sun will rise, but please don't ask me why.

I suggest that they added that line for appeasement. Her cadence and delivery are identical to many of the reporters recently hired by TV stations and networks, many who have very poor diction and equally bad pacing.
