I disagree that a conservative voice is needed to consider budgets and the Constitutionality of laws. I take issue with their metrics. They don’t truly measure or value environmental or social costs and benefits, for instance. I work in govt, and I sometimes agree with their criticism about waste, but their application of this criticism is so uneven (ie, not applicable to the military).

Dead people don’t feel like they’re being punished. Death penalties don’t serve as a punishment. They serve as a method to make society feel better. Thus, the death penalty is a socially acceptable killing in order to make others happy.
