The main purpose of the game is to generate revenue for Niantic and Nintendo. The main gameplay element is walking around, yes, but there are things that can be done to make it so people with mobility issues can play it as well. I’ve thrown out some ideas in the thread, and I’m sure the brilliant people at Nintendo,

It’s not about including every single person, it’s about including as many people as you can. There are many more people with mobility issues than there are people who are blind.

Allow users to take a virtual walk using google maps. Tap the screen or shake the phone to take steps after choosing a direction on the Go map. Allow a certain amount of pokemon to spawn near your home in a day if it shows you’ve been there a certain amount of time. Be able to remotely connect to a random or not

Nobody is shaming you.

Accessibility options are a thing.

Wow, what an asshole.

Uh why not both? While disabilities are still a thing, we obviously need to address it, not just pretend it doesn’t exist until a distant future where there are no disabilities.

There have been plenty of proposed things to make it easier for disabled people. Just because you don’t know how doesn’t mean there aren’t ways. I’m sure there are brilliant people at Niantic and Nintendo that can figure something out.

Actually, fuck you.

What? Of course there is, multiple solutions have been proposed already. They have brilliant people working there, I’m sure they can figure something out.

They will address it if the press keeps bringing it up as important. Disabled people don’t have a large voice, you could really help us out here.

Wow dude. Look, I didn’t ask to be born with a disability, it’s not my fault my legs don’t work. I can interact with every portion of the game but the walking part.

It’s not about being unhappy, it’s about being able to use it at all.

Maybe we could use google maps to virtually walk around? Maybe pick a direction and shake the phone to take steps on the Go map? Come on man, there’s ways they can help us, we just want to be able to play too.

Thank You! I have muscular dystrophy and I just wan to enjoy this game like everyone else. Please hammer Nintendo about this until they help us out! They won’t change anything unless the press stays on them about this.

Yeah, it’s not really fair, they should do something about that. They are basically telling people who live in the boonies that they’re never gonna have the same opportunity as people in cities.

Pokemon Go really sucks for disabled people too, we don’t really get to have any fun with the game. I thought Nintendo was one of more inclusive game companies, I guess not though :/

No, but I can see why you would take it that way- it’s a convenient mechanism to discredit an opposing viewpoint without having to consider anything that stands in contradiction to your firmly entrenched position may have some merit!

So anybody who takes a deeper look at ethics in gaming journalism is bad? I don’t understand that at all. You’ve attached a pejorative term to a good thing?
