The whole "endangered species" thing was already hilariously overblown, Frog Lady refers to it as her "family line", so it's more like "but Susan if you don't get married I'll never have grandkids!"

I’m immediately reminded of the HD Rumble in the Nintendo Switch controllers. Really neat at first then quickly fades into the background, and isn’t really used to its fullest extent by most developers. I’m not making any bets but I do wonder if it’ll ultimately be the same with DualSense.

Friend of mine has been “angry” at Sony for years now for reasons and mentions this same thing, thinking it’ll be a “misstep” by the brand that will cause problems with third party devs. Also he is just super grumpy, so I hope he’s wrong as well.

At the same time, it’s similar to the idea of rumble. “We have to add rumble to this game? For everything?” But, as I discussed with a friend the other day, unless Sony is providing sample libraries or templates, it may be a herculean task for all but the largest devs.

I hope so too. But the potential is there. But to be fair, I don’t know how much labor it would take to map an entire game’s haptic feedback. I would guess that it takes a long time.

It’s good that they failed.  For one thing, it’s hilarious. Also, if they’d actually used enough dynamite to reduce a Whole Fucking Whale to seagull-bites, the shock of the blast might have injured everyone present and/or showered the whole town with high-velocity whale projectiles.

Not every show need everything to be deeply connected from episode to episode. Not having greater ambitions isn’t a show problem. Your putting some sort of expectations on the show and that is not the shows fault.

The hysterical policing of another woman’s hair choices is a good exemplar of why no one takes progressives seriously.

She is acting in a role where she has to wear a wig (see her Instagram post from 10/28/2020).  The wig needs to fit to her head tightly and braiding your hair close to your head is one of the best ways to do that.

We use a garlic press. It’s incredibly easy and I can’t tell the difference. 

Yeah, I mean, I can see the annoyance with something like Last of Us where it was on the PS3, last generation and basically as fancy as they could make it, and then try to sell a remastered version which didn’t really add anything.
