While it’s true that each vote would ‘count’ equally, each vote would not ‘matter’ equally.

Because that’s a better option than the votes of a large part of the country not mattering at all.  Sure, both Cali and NYC voted the same way as I did in 2016, but that’s not going to be the case all the time I’m sure.
