Electric motors have a lot of torque at low RPM but they also generate tons of heat at very low RPM. When crawling over rocks you don’t want your motor to melt. A 10:1 reduction would also help to increase torque at those speeds, a lot.

I agree. I like the drifting itself, not that they can ruin a set of rear tires in 20 minutes (or less). Maybe some harder compound could fix that. Also the smoke isn’t really healthy (for the driver and spectators). It’s cool what they do though.
