The Vernon Hills drive-thru runs like a well-oiled machine. I moved and now live closer to the Gurnee Portillo’s. The drive-thru at the latter is a shitshow, taking way longer than it should. It’s not uncommon to see the carhops walking to and handing off food to the cars BEHIND you (WTF?). The food’s still good,

In my whole entire life, I’ve ordered from the actual drive through machine *once* at a Portillo’s. I didn’t know they actually worked. I had just beaten the rush and was the only person in line.

If this results in me getting Vienna hot dogs on the west coast at a reasonable price, I promise to get one of those stupid chocolate cake shakes every visit.

Yeah I feel like it got a lot of hate for what it begat (as noted, 4chan was basically its offspring and from there... well) more than what it was. Which isn’t to say it was great; as noted in the article it was very “early internet” with all the bad that implies like “ironic” racism and other wildly offensive content

lmao get fucked.

I visit SA every day. Is not the website that was. People have mature, the culture have become somewhat woke. Is way less popular now, and way less alive, but is a good place to chat with other people.

You really can’t turn this around into ‘perhaps it is u who are petty’ - the guy gleefully harassed and targeted minorities, and much of his anguish was that his website matured (to a degree) while he didn’t. The Something Awful website bankrolled his entire lifestyle even as he grifted and complained server costs

I won’t ever really take pleasure in a man’s death but this coming the day after (as confirmed by LadyAmbien) he lost his divorce settlement against her is... remarkably scummy.

Something Awful produced a wild amount of humor and culture for decades and had a massively outsized influence for a long time. It was a place where I learned a lot about writing, about politics and some other things.

Insane. Something Awful was daily reading for me when I was a teen playing way too much Quake 2. It really did feel like that “meme culture” really did start on the Something Awful forums (along with the original concept of “Let’s Plays” that has well become a job for some people.) I always felt the SA forums got

It also helps that Rivian isn’t vaporware and actually delivers trucks. Rivian trucks are already on the road (amazon delivery trucks), and they seem to be the first viable commercial-use EV produced in any kind of numbers.

TBF, towing range on my gasser truck is pretty bad when I am towing my boat. 8-9mpg doesn’t get me very far. I can refuel but not all stations are optimized for large trailers to come through

Also the only EV that isn’t shaped like a jelly bean, oddly enough.

AND, it’s still equivalent to like 60-70mpg counting national average electric and gas rates. That’s awesome vs the current high performance ICE offroaders, SUVs and trucks.

Wait, the heaviest and largest EV vehicle for sale today is the least efficient?

As someone wiser and quicker on Twitter has noted, if Univ of Austin gets off the ground it will have huge upsides... to all other colleges. It will siphon off some of the most insufferable dipshits to one place. We should be thanking Bari for her service. She’s made Parler for high ed.

Pardon my language but these M’fuckers did the same with me & my friend. We were arrested at 1AM while driving on a road trip ; had to sit handcuffed in a police car for 2 hours! WE JUST RENTED THE CAR HOURS AGO AND HAD THE RENTAL AGREEMENT WITH US. How tf does hertz say these are people who were weeks overdue! The

The real answer here is that if you tow larger trailers longer distances, this probably isn’t the truck for you (though the Hybrid F-150 probably is).

But the reality is that for the *three quarters of a million* F-150s sold last year, there’s an incredibly large number of owners that don’t tow anything, or tow very

That’ll be a very expensive trailer? RVs maybe. But normal boat or u-haul trailers, no way.

...what if trailers started coming with battery packs to offset the range hit? I know it would add weight but adding battery capacity in the thing that makes you need more capacity rather than just making the truck’s battery bigger seems like a reasonable solution.
