Dealer trade in is horrible. They’ll take your car for less than the KBB value and sell it for a higher value. Selling to a owner can get you more money. My mustang went for 15k . Dealer was giving 11k and dealers were selling that car for 17k (at that mileage condition and year make)

I sold a bike with a payoff once. Luckily, it was financed at a local credit union, so I just had the guy meet me there. He gave me cash, I paid the bike off on the spot, they handed me the title, and were even nice enough to notarized my signature as I signed it over to him. Easy-peasy
