Sounds like great news.

If the real question asked is: How do we monetize simple, effective, reliable and extremely inexpensive controls which never fail with complicated electronic controls which require you to take your eyes off the road to operate and will be very expensive to replace, then you have your real answer for their motivation.

We have a 2013 ATS in the family since it was new, about two years into owning it we came back from shopping and the screen was just cracked from being in the sun. I can only imagine what a 33” replacement screen and the damage done to the dash after replacing would cost. 

Working at a Chrysler dealership, I hear a TON of questions and comments about the 12" screen in the Ram, typically positive and aspirational.
