I’m mostly just surprised the local dealer didn’t do an exchange; we got my fiancee’s SQ5 at our local dealer, but ultimately they had it shipped in from a few hundred miles away because she wanted a specific configuration (Prestige/Quantum/red interior/S-sport/no black optics). And they did it in 3 days, for no added

That also doesn’t include the expenses, which must be well into the thousands for all the cars they needed to buy and destroy.

If they made an AWD Scat Pack I would (really) have bought one late in ‘20. Probably a Charger since wifey insists on 4 doors but still, mid-400 V8 horsepower plus practicality, in the $50k range? Sign me up.

So, basically Gru’s car from Despicable Me...

One of my friends is a big bourbon guy and he’s a big fan of Jefferson’s Ocean

I’ve been several times and agree with everything you said. And taken together, the general intelligence with which people exist in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, etc. is a major reason why I like those countries so much.

“Silent,” obviously...

Is there a reason all these buses were/are 2-stroke? Seems enormously polluting, and a pain to manage refueling.

MIL has the sedan version of the XF-S... have driven, can confirm, that car rocks.

Ironically Audi actually did the right thing on the pre-facelift B9 SQ5 and didn’t include any visible exhaust at all. There’s just some silver trim down there which vaguely looks exhaust-ish (below). It looks fine; my fiancee has one (not pictured) and it took a while before I even noticed. Apparently Audi got

Second Mayflower (1629) for my family and to reiterate, fuck these people.

I agree. I respect the brand for making EVs “cool” and (for a while before they decided to never do model refreshes) competitive, but solely because Elon is a megalomaniacal douchebag I could never bring myself to own one. I’d rather have a Taycan or an E-tron or, shit, even a Bolt to avoid any association with him.

These days even a steel Daytona is worth more than some Patek models, and it’s possible that’s white gold or platinum (can’t tell from the low-res picture) both of which are well into car levels of money at retail.

He does look evil but that white dial Daytona he’s rocking has me envious.

I couched that as an assumption; I’m not an electrical engineer. And fair point about the size of the battery pack, but if they’re viewing it as a retrofit it has to be at least close to OE size.

True but, the same technology that will allow this battery pack to do 750 miles should allow for a 375 mile range at roughly half the size (I assume, I’m not an engineer so maybe there’s some scale or conversion I’m missing here). Minimizing the size and weight of a battery pack is certainly a noble goal.

Helpful math, but we should stop perpetuating the idea that a 72 month term is reasonable. It should really be 60 months or less.

I think the smaller mufflers on this car’s aftermarket exhaust exacerbate the issue, which is probably why it’s so apparent here.
