Agreed. I know someone who literally makes buying decisions based on tire sidewall height and his options for anything decent are incredibly limited. Its basically between a custom-ordered Macan, a custom-ordered Range Rover, or a Wrangler which is terrible.

1984 Carrera 3.2 Targa. My dad and I found it sitting with a for sale sign in the window, not running, about 13 years ago before the air-cooled 911 bubble started. He bought it, got it running, and we did some sympathetic repairs and maintenance without changing much. Since the mid 2010s my dad didn’t drive it much

One of my coworkers actually writes like that on his LinkedIn. It’d be hilarious if he wasn’t serious.

Weird flex but fair

They’re S- trim levels... that’s as high and as fast as the XF goes in the States. My MIL has a (sedan) XF-S and they are super nice cars. And yes they are mid-size so they go against the 5/A6/E and not the 3-series.

It’s been happening inch by inch forever and people never really noticed, but going full electric is such a stark change that it forces recognition. Even ICE car to older ICE car, the change is pronounced. Getting out of my F10 5-series and straight into my 3.2 Carrera, or vice versa, requires a good mile or so of

“how many Breitling fans have ever actually stepped into a plane’s cockpit?”

Earlier is even better... the few times I’m up and about and can get there at 7:30, I can do a week’s worth of shopping for the 2 of us and be out the door in 20 minutes. And there’s no traffic. It’s a transcendent experience.

175 rampaging De-triot ponies under that hood. Whole lot of noise, not a lot of movement. 260 lb/ft of torque helped, though.

Agreed. Far better than it had any right to be. I’d still like to get another one at some point. It’d match well with my 3.2 Targa as the ultimate pair of removable-roof ‘80s awesomeness.

My first car was a 1986 Monte Carlo SS with T-tops. Atrocious car but also amazing at the same time. I agree with your sentiment.

Hands down.

Same. 911s were designed to have round headlights, the slantnose models always looked odd to me.

I f*cking love these WWII blackout-looking headlights. Badass.

CT requires them but luckily the cops don’t really care; we have them on 0 of our 3 cars and haven’t been hassled. It’d ruin the looks of all of them (911, F10, Q3).

Curious why you think the V-class/Metris is the worst... it’s less of a minivan and more of an MPV, granted, but we rode all over Croatia in them last year and they were pretty great.

Strong contender for my girlfriend’s replacement vehicle, if the performance is as good as the car looks. Luckily there’s a service center nearby...

Yeah as soon as I saw the picture it’s obviously a 356B with a Speedster windshield... the entire front end is different. The original proportions of the 356A are far more attractive. Moving the headlights higher on the B changed the look drastically.

Agreed. Slow car fast is better than fast car slow.

Same with air-cooled Porsches, which are a.) known to be driven and not garage queens and b.) known to be generally very reliable.
