I’d bet that diminishing returns is a part of it. My 7 Plus is the first phone that has me saying “I could keep this for 5+ years.” It’s fast enough, still works perfectly, and has physically held up fine for the 2 years I’ve had it.

Fact. My 3.2 911 had been sitting for ~5ish years straight before I rescued it and everything feels better after the few thousand miles I’ve put on it this summer (after the several thousand dollars spent on initial startup costs). It’s a happy little car now that everything has had some exercise.
It looks like a car from the Fallout series. And not in a good way.
Yup. I keep my ‘84 911 clean but that’s about it. It looks decent from 20 feet away but it’s very much imperfect... still gets compliments every time I take it out.
There was one at my local (New Canaan, CT) cars and coffee this spring. Dealer plated and I believe it was a recent import.
France will pay to ship it back, obviously. Because 45 is the best at making deals.
Yeah, as an atheist I was going to say that the Sessions Interpretation™ of the Bible is more textually accurate than the vastly filtered and moderated version that progressive Christians preach.
I also don’t get the point. I respect it both as a piece of art and a phenomenal engineering achievement but it does nothing for me. I wouldn’t look at any hypercars if I had the money; a Singer is more my speed.
Anecdotally I’d say. In the impact bumper era cabs were relatively rare which drives rarity and therefore desirability up. Also some people really like coupes (in general) and some people love cabrios (in general) but it’s more rare to meet someone who specifically desires a Targa given that they’re an unusual…
Touche, salesman.
My uncle has a 996 C4 cab (also not a Tip) and I love it. First Porsche I ever rode in; I have a huge soft spot for them.
And my argument was least-loved bodystyle not generation ;)
Yup. Can be very interesting even on cars that look perfect. I didn’t know my 993's bootlid was replaced until the paint thickness was measured.
Hey I have a 3.2 Targa and people definitely think it’s cool... it gets compliments every time I take it out. It may be the least-loved 911, but it’s still a 911.
Inheritance taxes are worse than you think. If you’re smart and have a good attorney, you can quickly and easily move upwards of $20M down a generation, per kid, tax free.
Didn’t they sell that Acura TL on your side as a Honda?
Good reminder. I always knew that movie was plausible and accurate and every way.
What USDM rides do you think are cool? I’m genuinely struggling to think of any remotely interesting car (aside from some niche trim levels like the Z28 Camaro) that are sold here but not over there.
If you take it objectively, a lot of them (recent ones, anyway) are great looking cars. And it isn’t like the VWs hiding underneath are bad, either. So, they’re good looking and generally good cars that are forbidden fruit for Americans.
Stick an Audi/Benz/whatever badge on that and tell me it’s a bad looking car:
American here. I love Skoda and wish they were sold here. Every time I’m in Europe I don’t shut up about them... drives my girlfriend crazy.
I had the same thought. These mods generally improve the car, and the aesthetics are perfect for the period in which it was made.
He’s the only one who has said both:
- the president is immune from prosecution
- Roe v. Wade may not be “settled law”
