I live in a medium sized city in Northern California. Some houses have mailboxes along the street and the postal carrier doesn’t get out of the vehicle. Some (older) houses have mailboxes near the house and the postal carrier has to walk from door to door. Some apartments have what you call a superbox.

I’m pretty sure authors don’t usually trademark names of fictitious products in their books. BTW the name “Coffiest” is from Frederik Pohl’s The Space Merchants.
