If you want a real scare, just google M96 & M97 engine. I personally have been eyeing a 996, but all the reported engine issues freak me out. Whether they are internet blown-out-of proportion or real is up to you to decide.

I'm a GT Veloce / Junior fan myself, even though I've never been in one.

The Alfa is pretty good when they expected great. The Cayman is really great when they expected great. The 86 appears to be more fun than both.

In fairness, Alfa has a long history of not matching up particularly well to their rivals at face value.

My rule of thumb is to take the value of a good, stock car and subtract the cost of the mods to undo the previous owners eff ups.
