Nah, the only thing the Genesis version has going for it is the sprite animation.  Otherwise it has loose controls, bad hit detection, bad music, and awful, meandering level design.  I think the SNES version is also a better adaptation of the movie.

This was never my experience, or at least that I can recall. Seems like a lot of posters grew up in awful areas!

Trying to imagine a version of the movie where Aladdin steals a sword and just hacks down the guards chasing him.

So much this.  Genesis version was an average-at-best action platformer.  The SNES version actually did some interesting things with the parkour-ish elements.

Disagree entirely. Swapping their voices would leave me conflicted as to who’s the superior* John (it’s Linnell).

Every other character gets an arc, but Captain Marvel just gets a straight line. It’s sad, because with some script revisions to actually pay off on all the “control your emotions” stuff, and more impact from her discovering her past, it could’ve been really good.
