I was just reading some comments about the Depp/Heard story on other sites and I’ve concluded that a video could emerge of Johnny Depp repeatedly punching Amber Heard in the face, and the internet would still declare her to be a gold digger who deserved it.

I agree on this. I’m usually bothered by the narrative of “gossip rags and paps are so invasive and ridiculous!” but, hey, let me call my PR person and make sure that I’ve got pictures and certain stories that I want published. We know the game.
This argument celebrities make is so tiresome. They willingly give us photos and details of their life when it suits them, and when it doesn’t they complain. And gossip is human nature. Always was, always will be.
