You said it yourself: feeling. The justice system is supposed to take decisions based on facts, not emotions, and it sounds like they did in this case. 

That’s what her family should say then. It’s clear they, and you and other commenters who have posted to that effect, are having a very emotional reaction to her release and think that what she did is so bad she doesn’t deserve to ever get out.

I also remember that summer, but I couldn’t disagree more.  Enough time has passed that I’m quite willing to not center this discussion on myself and listen to the experts who’s job it is to assess her readiness to rejoin society.

I see your point, but Letterman, Conan, Myers, and others would have definitely followed up with at least one question. Ostensibly these people are interviewers in addition to vacuous entertainers. You have to admit that Fallon’s response was so canned and empty-headed that one wonders why he is even fucking there.
