My version of a corpse reviver include kirshwasser, lillett, lemon juice and the above ingredients.

Teachers are held to a higher standard than just about any other profession in the country.

He was definitely overlooked, and probably in part because of his race (because I believe that impacts every aspect of peoples’ perception)

I have to share the oddest(stupidest?) nickname story I’ve heard. Which is from distinctly white people. My husband’s mom is irish and his dad is puerto rican (first generation US). His dad’s family have nothing unusual going on (the most is that his mom’s name was Saturnina (we called her Tuni, I think she was born

This was sort of my thought. My husband is an infectious disease doctor (and son of a 40 year veteran nurse) and one of the things he is most annoyed by is ER doctors consulting him on patients complaining of SOB and/or chest pain... particularly because they ask for a consult before getting a x-ray or temperature.

Thanks for reporting this or I wouldn’t have seen it. And for explicitly drawing attention to the fact that the facial sculpting was explicitly done to reflect her facial features, rather than just making a barbie with darker skin and hair. Her eyes also are a different shape to standard barbie, I think. That

The fact that we have had a laundry room/pantry off the kitchen (between the backdoor and the kitchen) in the two places we have lived as a family has facilitated our transition to basically never use paper towels. We have a large and admittedly overly well loved collection of towels in a cart under a tiny counter

My mom read mine too. In it I had said I can’t trust her.

I like how he keeps trying to get the guy (Lt.Gov? maybe) in Texas who offered a bounty for proof of voter fraud to give him a few million dollars because he found two cases of voter fraud in PA. Both cases of family members trying to vote for Trump for dead or out of state relatives (and not even necessarily by mail,

Oh my god this nostalgia is like flashbacks if you lived in the area at the time. I don’t even watch football but it is unavoidable in the fall around here (other than this year). You could not go two feet without hearing, reading or seeing something about it. blech.

totally off topic but this made me laugh because my best friend just started dipping a toe into dating again and she had to absolutely reject a guy who would have been high on her list, but his name was the same as my teenage son’s and she just couldn’t do it.

There are a lot of good comments about the contents of this very good piece and I really enjoyed its depth. But my comment is very specific, and more of a giant thank you. From near the end...

And being Spanish his not the same as being hispanic. So this for sure isn’t “Dolezaling.” She’s being a grifter maybe (yes), and crappy maybe (sure), but she isn’t trying to pass herself off as of a difference race/ethnicity. She’s a white woman with dark hair pretending to be at least partly from a European country

I recall a conversation I was reading/took part in on the root this summer and this was also one of the things I was thinking of. At least that it be specifically tied to officers, so that even if the culture didn’t change significantly there would be an incentive for other officers and departments to hold colleagues

Agree. I only ever use non-stick for eggs (and really only for fried eggs, because a little stuck on scramble is fine and if you are careful you can do scrambled in any pan). I have actually done fine with my well seasoned cast iron griddle for fried eggs too.

If you go to the website linked regarding the use of force policy and then click for the more general excellence in policing initiative there is a LOT of information about what has been put in place. As the article suggests the Use of Force policy has been under development, but to clarify it is PART of pretty

i think you can do that by making a location based automation. i’m not good at making short cuts, but sometimes i find one that does something sort of like what I want and then just change the details... so if you find a location based short cut you could switch out the action that it takes.  Then there is the whole

It’s not a husband, but my mom died about two years ago (2.5ish..?). The first few months were fueled by necessity of things that absolutely must get done ASAP (funeral, estate, packing up the house, repairing things, cleaning and selling it.) After that I’ve pretty much been living in a haze. Every few months I think

Yeah.. so at least half of the medical staff aren’t at high risk. Even if they are seeing patients in the office..

Maaaaybe. MAYBE if they started the transition interviews earlier - like when the last states finished counting ballots and everyone knew Biden won - they would have had an extra couple of weeks to do these meetings.
