Oh this spf recommendation is super helpful for me to read because I find it impossible to find a daily sunscreen solution that doesn’t drive me insane with how it makes my skin feel (chemical ones make it itch in one way, certain types of physical blockers make it itch in another way).

In a similar way, awhile ago I was dealing with the stress of having a child who had a personality characteristic that was difficult for me to deal with. Not practically but mentally. I was reading a book to gain some tools for my mental toolbox.

I would say it’s good for occasional use (special events, a fancy date).

yeah, and the 500 miles between Boston and DC has more than 1 in 6 Americans

One of the many ways I benefited from my mom teaching at an inner-city middle school (when I was also that age) was learning about how differently black girls my age were treated in the same places I (white girl) went. She was an English teacher, so taught essay writing etc. One of the many things she shared

I agree. I am a pale person. And I have a thing that makes any skin inflammation turn into a dark reddish-purple spot (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). So like every mosquito bite and every ingrown hair (of which I get tons) turns into a dark spot that remains for months. They all add up and I look like I have

I tried to get my kids to watch Mr. Rogers. I think I waited until they were too old. I think 6-7 is on the high side of the audience that it was for. Also, by the late 80's there were way more options available for media consumption. A child from that time period might expect something different.  The sweet spot was

This reaction is super fascinating. (because everyone was asking where you are from I looked at some of your old comments to figure out you weren’t from North America originally.. though that should be obvious because EVERYONE has at least seen SOME Mr. Rogers these parts.)

I was going to agree with you, but then I decided I agree with BOH1066.

Lots of places of local beach regulations about filling in holes if they are certain sizes. Not that I know how they can enforce this.

This is true for Philadelphia also, but it’s called the wage tax. It applies to all workers but is different for residents vs non-residents. Probably many cities with depressed urban areas surrounded by densely populated suburbs have to resort to this because so many people commute vs. living in the city.

I used to teach at a tiny private school in Schenectady (and am not from NY and don’t like there now). Some kids came from there from Niskayuna. This is the first time I have ever seen anyone mention the name Niskayuna since I left the Hudson valley.

I mean I don’t have a massive twitter platform etc. But.. in his defense...

I think the privilege is appearing white.

As I’ve said before, Philly is no joke. Nothing surprises me, good or bad.

So I have to go to a fancy fundraiser every year. They do their best to get some good musical performances, some better than others. (I can’t remember them all, but most recently, Hewey Louis, Hall and Oates, Chicago). I wouldn’t want the job of playing a corporate gig (even though its a lot of people and during the

You are being too kind. German has like an official organization reform how words are officially spelled and written so that, as much as possible, German words are spelled how they sound (assuming you know the rules).

Yeah, especially Mets fans that come to games in Philly. ARGH!
