I’ve been on the receiving end of that scenario many times: I regen up to stopped traffic and feel like i’m about to get rear ended because the person behind me doesn’t realize i’m slowing wayyyy down. You’d think the stopped traffic ahead of me would be an indication, but evidently not. I’ve taken to tapping my…
The Volt/electric cars definitely don’t take the place of a dedicated fun car, but they’re still pretty fun to drive. Driving in traffic sucks. Electric cars help make things easier by a smoother, quieter powertrain that kind of feels like a stick shift and that offers some great low-end torque. My Volt is a champ in…
I don’t think so on the Gen1 Volt. I believe the Gen2 brake lights illuminate when using the ‘regen button’ on the steering wheel.
Electric car regen braking is AWESOME. When I bought my 2015 Volt, it took some getting used to, but I drive around in “L” mode most of the time now. Being able to coast to an (almost) stop makes it so much easier to read traffic during rush hour, and not worry quite as much about speeding up, then immediately…
NP, because that’s about the right price for one of those. They’re gorgeous cars on the road.
Hey, that’s what I would do in heated sessions of Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Technology sure is a marvel.
Fun fact: goats love the shit out of poison ivy.
As a Birmingham, MI-adjacent resident of Oakland County (not actually residing in Birmingham because i’m too poor for that), i’ve been seeing a handful of Velars.
I guess the argument *could* be made that domestic producers now are selling goods with a larger profit margin and could therefore start paying their employees more, which would increase consumer confidence, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that outcome.
Domestic industries will realize that their competition, the imported goods, are more expensive, and will raise their prices accordingly. They may set their prices to be “just” cheap enough that you’d buy domestic over the import, but everything gets more expensive for consumers.
That’s a fantastic Silk Spectre. And the Harley Quinn is great, too! I would like to see how the Grievous costume works; i’m always fascinated by puppetry cosplay setups.
This bothers me. It’s feature lines crashing into feature lines, all for the sake of feature lines.
Came for the King of the Hill gif.
That is correct: the NHTSA regulations specify mirrors. I believe Tesla and other OEMs are petitioning to change this, however.
Owned a 2006 V. Fantastic car. Interior looks like total shit, but it’s actually pretty well put together.
Their bag of cheddar-and-caramel popcorn is heaven.
My very professional artist’s rendering of the event in question.
Only tangentially related to this story (bottom right picture, really): i’ve seen Velars in the wild around Birmingham, Michigan with uplevel wheels, but I only recently saw one in base configuration. They’re gorgeous vehicles with the big wheels. With the little wheels? Nooooope. Sorry, plebe.
Owned one, a 2005 AWD. Honda engine definitely was the best part, but the AWD system didn’t do the engine justice... it was an on-demand AWD setup which made the most godawful groaning noise when the rear diff module kicked on.
